According to the dictionary, a culture warrior is a conservative who is engaged in a conflict with the prevailing culture over ethical and religious ideals, beliefs, and philosophies. In Christian circles, they are called a SAGE CON or a “spiritually active, governance engaged conservative.” This kind of conservative is a Christian who holds strong biblical convictions about social issues.
Being a SAGE CON Christian is about taking a biblical stand on subjects that impact the family such as abortion, homosexuality, transgenderism, fornication, and pornography, among others.
God’s Word is clear on these social issues, and a Christian culture warrior is willing to take up the mantle of publicly declaring and personally defending the biblical position on these issues in a secular society.
This Christian is a warrior because he/she understands that there is a cultural war happening—a battle between virtue and vice, right and wrong, good and evil, and is willing to courageously enter the fight.
The cultural battle is real, and it is both spiritual and physical. It requires courage, and it comes with a steep cost and with real consequences. Perhaps this is why so many Christians avoid conflict with culture.
Too many Christians are inactive and unengaged, watching the battle from the proverbial sidelines and sitting out the scuffle altogether. And this is why it matters that we activate idle Christians to engage social issues.
“ACTIVATING IDLE CHRISTIANS TO ENGAGE SOCIAL ISSUES”
The Bible emphatically calls us as Christians to be spiritual soldiers, engaged in spiritual conflict with the powers of darkness, taking a stand and holding our ground in God’s ever-advancing kingdom.
