Heisman Trophy Candidate Almost Aborted

Dec 5, 2019

Heisman trophy
Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins got press recently—and not just for his “standout performance” in the Buckeyes’ win over the Michigan Wolverines and becoming one of those enviable Heisman trophy candidates. When FOX Sports announcer Gus Johnson revealed a little known fact about the football star during the live broadcast of the game, J.K. earned a new nickname.

“J.K. Dobbins’ mom, Mya, became pregnant when she was 18 years old," Johnson unexpectantly announced. “She went to the doctor because she was thinking about aborting the baby, but changed her mind. That baby turned out to be that young man, J.K. Dobbins, who she calls her ‘miracle baby.’”

With ballots due next Monday, we will have to wait and see whether J.K. will receive that Heisman, the award presented to the outstanding player in college football. In the meantime, the real honor goes to Mya for choosing life. Thank you, moms and dads who choose life for your children even in difficult circumstances.

You never know who that little baby in the womb might turn out to be or what that baby might accomplish. Every life is precious, and that’s why we fight for the unborn in Tennessee through sound legislation whenever we can.
