Officials in Texas are asking the entire 17-member Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to enforce a ban on second-trimester “dismemberment abortions” until the court rules on its constitutionality. This comes after a three-judge panel of the appeals Ccourt denied a motion to allow the ban last week.

On Monday, a federal judge in Idaho temporarily blocked the state from implementing the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, a law banning transgender females from participating in women’s sports. The injunction means that transgender athletes looking to participate in sports that match their gender identity will be able to compete at both secondary and collegiate levels this fall.

On Friday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit affirmed a lower court ruling requiring a Jacksonville, Fl. school district to allow transgender students equal access to restrooms that match their gender identity. The suit brought in 2018 by Drew Adams, a biological female who “identifies” as a male, alleged the school district’s policy was in violation of equal protection under the Fourteenth Amendment as well as the prohibition of discrimination based on sex under Title IX of the Education Amendment Act of 1972.

The Philadelphia Statement on free speech and civil discourse made its public debut on Tuesday. The 845-word document aims to oppose cancel culture and free speech policing by affirming the need for civil discourse. It comes on the heels of a YouGov poll which found that because of the current political climate 62 percent of Americans are fearful of expressing their political opinions. This is up from 58 percent in 2017. Supporters of the Philadelphia Statement are collecting signatures in hopes of starting a movement that will combat these statistics and restore a culture of free expression in America.

Idaho Court Upholds Decision on Transgender Birth Certificates

On Friday, a federal court blocked implementation of an Idaho statute that would provide a procedure by which transgender individuals could change their sex on their birth certificates. U.S. Magistrate Judge Candy Dale ruled, however, ruled that the new law did not go far enough and it violates an injunction she first issued in 2018, in which she ruled Idaho’s law preventing a person from changing their birth certificate to conform with their gender identity unconstitutional.

School District Policy that Deceives Parents on Child’s Perceived “Gender Identity” is Challenged

A group of anonymous parents have filed a lawsuit against the Madison (Wisconsin) Metropolitan School District challenging a district policy that encourages teachers to assist students to pursue transitioning to a different gender identity to include the use of a new name and pronouns to while at school. Not only does the policy allow this activity without notifying parents, it also allows teachers and staff to actively conceal the information from parents.
